Candidate Sources Report

Can I run a report to see the main sources of my candidates?

Purpose: The Candidate Sources report helps you understand where people are learning about your organization online. This report helps determine which sources provide the most candidates so you can allocate your recruiting efforts (and your budget ) accordingly.

Data will only appear on this report if you are utilizing the Applicant Tracking System within BambooHR.

There are five standard reports available for Applicant Tracking. You cannot create custom reports for Applicant Tracking data.

At the top of the report, you can select the date range to which you would like to view the information. You can also decide if you would like to view aggregate information for all of your candidate sources or if you would like to view an individual source. You can hover over the different bar colors in the report to see what percent of candidates who made it to that status came from that specific source.

The Not Hire Because... Breakdown will show you up to three inactive statuses and the percentage of candidates in that status for each source. You can hover over each color to see the exact percentage.

If you need to export this data or share this report, click the corresponding buttons in the top right corner of the report.

Sources: The candidate source information will automatically generate from the job posting URL, our partner XML feeds, the embedded job code, or the referrer URL. If a source does not identify and match with one of those options, it will appear as Other.

When you share a job opening, you can create a new source, and we will automatically create a specific job link for you to share the job opening. In this way, when new candidates apply by using the job link, you will see the correct source listed on the candidate's profile and this report.

Posting Views: The Posting Views tracks the number of people who visit the specific BambooHR-powered careers page. Note that some candidates may not be counted as visitors if they apply without navigating to the careers page URL. For example, if someone applies to a job posting from within LinkedIn (without clicking to go to the careers job page), they will count as a candidate, not a visitor.

Table View

You can also view the data in a table view by clicking on the tab at the top. This view will show the conversion funnel by source broken out by each source.

Candidate Sources in Settings
Candidate Sources

You can find a list of your candidate sources by going to Settings > Hiring > Candidate Sources. From here, you can add or remove sources, but you will not be able to edit any listed sources.

The Account Owner and Full Admin user(s) automatically have access to all standard reports. Additionally, if a user has access to Manage Job Openings through access levels, they can view the Candidate Sources report on the Reports tab in BambooHR.

Be aware that if you post to a job board that includes its own "Apply Here" button, applications submitted through that job board likely will not show up in BambooHR's ATS. To come through the ATS, candidates need to apply via the correct channel using the unique URL for the job opening. For boards that do not partner with BambooHR, we recommend including the unique URL link as part of the job description with instructions for the candidate to apply at this link. That not only sends them through the ATS, it also acts as a preliminary screening process since applications for those who do not read and follow your instructions will not reach the ATS.
