Candidate's Profile
What information can I view about a candidate?
Purpose: To show you what candidate information stores in BambooHR's Applicant Tracking System.
Table of Contents
Hiring
To view all information about a candidate, navigate to their profile page:
- Locate Job Openings on the Hiring tab.
- Click on the job opening.
- Click on the candidate's name.
Candidate profile
On the candidate profile, you will find:
- Application date: A candidate will show as Applied if they applied to the job opening. If a user manually adds or moves a candidate from another position, the candidate will show as Added.
- Candidate Info: This tab will show a candidate's resume and any other files uploaded as part of the application process. Download or print their resume and other files from this tab.
- Notes: This tab includes comments about a candidate and a historical timeline that include status changes (the date, time, and person who made the change) and ratings the candidate has received.
- Emails
- Previous/Next candidate: Click Previous to go to the previous candidate in the list. Click Next to go to the next candidate in the list. The next candidate's current status will show below their name.
- Rating: Click the number of stars you would like to give to the candidate. You will then see an option to add a comment to your update. The rating update, along with your comment, will show on the Notes tab under History. You can remove a candidate's rating by clicking on the existing number of stars.
- Quick links: Add a note, send an email, or view the action menu (includes commands of Edit Candidate Info, Add to Talent Pool, Move Candidate, or Delete Candidate).
- Status: Select the preferred status option from the candidate's status drop-down list. Once you change the status, you can add a comment associated with the change. The status update, along with your comment, will show on the Notes tab under History.
- Basic candidate information
-
Source: Quickly and easily identify how a candidate applied for this position. The candidate source generates from the job posting URL, our partner XML feeds, the embedded job code, or the referrer URL. If a source does not identify or match to one, it will appear as Other. If a source does not apply, the field will show as hidden on the candidate profile view.
- Edits can be made to the Source field when editing the candidate's profile (see #8 in the above image). You can find a list of candidate sources in Hiring Settings.
- Talent Pools: See which Talent Pool(s) this candidate has been added to.
- Other Activity on this Job: This section includes a candidate's additional applications to the specific job opening and their manual candidate additions.
- Also Considered For: This section includes a candidate's applications to other jobs* and their manual candidate additions to other jobs.
- Moved From/To: This section indicates the job opening* that a candidate was most recently moved from or moved to (or both, depending on the candidate).
- Answers: This section displays a candidate's answers to custom application questions.

*If you do not have access to see a job opening a candidate also applied to or a job opening a candidate was moved from/to, then the job opening will show in gray text, and you will not be able to click on it to see the other application.
- If you edit a question since the candidate's response, you will see a message that lets you know this version of the question is no longer available to candidates.
- If you archive a question since the candidate's response, you will see a message that lets you know the current version of the question was available during a specific time for candidates but no longer visible on the job opening.
If you edit the candidate's application, you will also see an icon if the custom question has been archived or updated. You will still be able to edit the question, but it will not be visible on the job opening for future applications.
All candidate profiles will remain in the Applicant Tracking System even after the job opening closes. Enter the candidate's name in the search box to review their candidate profile.
