Can I customize an employee's onboarding or offboarding task list?

Purpose: To help you understand how to customize an employee's onboarding or offboarding task list to meet the employee's specific needs.

Add Items

You can customize an employee's onboarding and offboarding process to fit their individual needs.

To add an item, go to the employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab:

  1. Click +Add Task.
  2. Enter the details of the task and click Add Task.
Add items from template

To add specific tasks from the onboarding or offboarding template that were originally filtered for the employee, select Add Items From Template from the action menu.

Select which specific tasks apply to the employee's onboarding or offboarding process. When done, click Add Selected Items. Once saved, the tasks will appear on the employee's task list under the Onboarding or Offboarding tab, and the assignees will receive the Task Assigned email notification based on the task settings from Settings.

The Task Assigned notification also applies to when you create a new task on the employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab and assign it to a user. The assignee will receive an automatic email notification informing them of the task details. When the assignee clicks View in BambooHR, they will go to their inbox in BambooHR. From there, they can add comments, attach files, and mark the task as complete.

If you need to delete a task from a specific employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab, you can delete it from their task list:

  1. Go to the employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab.
  2. Move your mouse to highlight the desired task.
  3. Click on the trash icon.
    • Clicking on the pencil icon allows you to edit the task, such as changing the name, the assignee, and the due date. You can also add a comment or an attachment.

If you delete a task from an employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab, please note that all comments and attachments associated with the task will delete as well.


Delete all uncompleted tasks

To delete all uncompleted tasks on an employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab or to reset the tab in its entirety:

  1. Go to the employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab.
  2. Click on the gear icon.
  3. Select Delete Items.

Confirmation of deletion

A pop-up box will appear asking for confirmation of what you want to delete. Your options are to:

  1. Delete only the uncompleted tasks, or
  2. Delete the uncompleted tasks with the completed tasks (resulting in a full reset of the tab).

Completed items

If you choose to delete only the uncompleted tasks, all completed tasks will remain with their associated comments and attachments. Should you need to delete a completed task, click on the trash can icon.

Reset

If you choose a full reset, all tasks with their all associated comments and attachments will delete from the employee's Onboarding or Offboarding tab and Documents folder as applicable. The tab will then need to be activated again to add tasks. You can do this by selecting Import From Template or Add a Task.
