Payroll Details on the Review Page
What information can I find in the Payroll Details section of the Review Page?
Purpose: After calculating payroll, BambooHR provides a snapshot of your current payroll data for easy reconciliation. You will learn about the different information found within each tab in the Payroll Details section of the Review Page.
Payroll Details
The Payroll Details section is found on the Review Page after editing and calculating your payroll. This section breaks down your current payroll data by Paystubs, Taxes, Deductions, Extra Pay, and Hours. See below for more details on what you can find and do in each of these sections.
Paystubs
The Employee Paystubs table displays all employees included in the payroll and their specific payroll data. You can filter the table by employee name, employee ID, or department by using the search feature. You can view a preview of a paystub by selecting an employee's name. A paystub preview includes preview watermarks and does not include a print or download button. Once the payroll gets approved, you will be able to download the employee's real paystub. A preview of a paystub will display the following information:

Total Hours: Total of regular, overtime, and holiday hours
- If you are using Project Tracking for employees with multiple pay rates, a breakdown of hours assigned to Projects and Tasks will also display on the preview.
- Gross Pay: Total earnings before taxes and deductions
- Deductions: Total amount deducted from the employee's gross pay
- Employee Tax: Total tax amount withheld from the employee's gross pay
- Net Pay: Total earnings after taxes and deductions (take-home pay)
Taxes
The Taxes tab within Payroll Details will display the tax types included in payroll and their amounts for employee paid, company paid, and year-to-date (YTD) totals. YTD totals only include those active in the payroll. Clicking on the tax type dropdown will display all employees included in that tax. Clicking the employee name will display their paystub. You can also filter the Taxes section by searching for an employee by first or last name.
Tax Adjustment Alert
If an update to a tax account in BambooHR requires an adjustment to an employee's taxes, a tax adjustment alert will display within the taxes tab of the Payroll Details section on the Review Page. The banner will include a list of each tax, the amount, and the date of the necessary adjustments.
You will also notice a Tax Adjustment tag next to the tax type name in the table. A blue dot will also appear next to the employee name and the amount being adjusted. If you hover over the amount, the adjustment difference will be displayed.
Deductions
The Deductions tab will display all active deductions on the current payroll and a grand total amount at the top of the table. Each deduction will be broken out by Employee Contribution, Employee YTD Contribution, Company Contribution, and Company YTD Contribution. Clicking into the deduction type will list each employee included in the deduction and a breakdown of the same totals. If an employee has multiple checks, each check will be displayed. You can click on the employee's name to view their paystub.
Extra Pay
The Extra Pay tab will display a table categorized by active pay types within the payroll. The total and year-to-date (YTD) amounts will also appear for quick reconciliation. Keep in mind that YTD amounts only include employees within the active pay cycle. Clicking on the pay type dropdown will display the names of employees with that pay type included on their paystub for the current payroll run. Click on the employee's name to view the extra pay on their unapproved paystub. Need to look for someone specific? Type the employee's first or last name in the search bar to quickly view their extra pay.
Hours
Click the Hours tab within the Payroll Details section to view the hours data for the current payroll. This table will display the number of hours, pay rates, and total dollar amount for each hour type. Clicking on the hour type will show all employees who have that hour type on the active payroll. You can view individual employee hours by searching their first or last name in the search bar.
The Hours tab will display Project/Task hours and wages. Like the Edit page, if hours belong to a Project or Task, they will be grouped under a header row named [Pay Type] - [Project Name] or [Pay Type] - [Project Name] » [Task Name].
The excel and CSV export will also include Project/Task data in the “Type” column.
The Hours tab will also display shift differential hours and wages. Like the Edit page, if hours belong to a Project or Task, they will be grouped under a header row named Project Name > Task Name | Shift Name or [Pay Type] - [Project Name] » [Task Name] | Shift Name.
The excel and CSV export will also include shift differential data in the “Type” column.
Payroll Costs
The Payroll Costs tab will display fees and collections that apply to the current payroll run.
If payroll fees are included, the Fees table will display showing the following information:
- Fee Name
- Quantity
- Rate
- Amount
If there are tax or deduction collections, the Collections & Adjustments table will display the following information:
- Collection and Adjustment Name
- Adjustment Type
- Amount
- Note

Reconciling your employee's payroll data is even easier with filters! A filter button will appear on each tab within the Payroll Details section. Clicking on this button will allow you to filter the active employee data by Department, Division, Location, Job Title, Employment Status, Tax Type, Pay Type, and Overtime Status. Filtering is based on the information of employees within the payroll and will only display options that match the active employee data. You can select multiple filters or clear all filters. The table view will automatically update with the applied filters and will apply to all of the tabs within the Payroll Details section. If you navigate to other tabs, the same filters will apply to the data.
You can also export the data within each tab in Payroll Details. Click Export on the top right of each table to download a report in either Excel or CSV format. Keep in mind, if you apply a filter to the table, the file will only include the filtered data.
