One-Time Extra Pay When Running Payroll
How do I manage extra pay when running payroll in BambooHR?
Purpose: This document will explain how to add, edit, and remove one-time extra pay while running payroll in BambooHR.

Want to add extra pay before starting your payroll run? You can do so on the Extra Pay page or the employee profile!
Extra Pay section
You can manage extra pay on the Edit page of running payroll in BambooHR. Hover over the Extra Pay column next to an employee's name to add, edit, or remove extra pay for the current payroll run.
Add/edit extra pay
Adding extra pay is as easy as a hover and a click when using BambooHR Payroll. Once on the Edit page, hover over the Extra Pay column in an employee’s row and click on the Add Pay dropdown menu. The menu displays all available pay type options, organized alphabetically by custom and standard pay types. You can also search for a pay type in the search bar to save time. Click on the extra pay type name to add it to the employee record.
You can add as many pay types as necessary to an employee's record! If you need a custom pay type added, please reach out to Payroll Support.
Click on the box that appears next to the pay type name and enter or edit the appropriate amount of extra pay. You can enter amounts up to two decimal places, but the total amount cannot exceed ten digits. Amounts left blank will default to $0.00. Letters and negative amounts are not accepted.
Pay types with $0.00 will not appear on the employee’s paystub when the payroll is calculated and will not be retained if you return to the Edit page (either by clicking on Edit this Payroll from the Calculate page or if you leave the payroll and reopen it later).
Other ways to add extra pay
Outside of running payroll in BambooHR, there are multiple ways to add extra pay in BambooHR before running payroll. See the following methods below:

- Add recurring extra pay in bulk
Regardless of the method you use to add the extra pay, if it is an active record when you click Start Payroll, it will appear on the Edit page in BambooHR within the employee's wage record.
The Extra Pay report found within the Preview Payroll Reports dropdown menu on the Review page will also display any extra pay added to the entire payroll for all of your employees.
Removing extra pay
An X will appear when hovering over the pay type name. Clicking on the X will remove the extra pay type from the current pay cycle. You can remove all extra pay types regardless of how you added them. The list of pay types will remain in alphabetical order.
