Bonus and Commission in Total Rewards

How do I set up bonuses and commissions in Total Rewards? 

Purpose: To help you understand bonuses and commissions on a Total Rewards statement.



Setting up bonuses

Before your employees can view their own bonus information in their Total Rewards statement, you will need to make sure their bonus details are up to date on their employee profile.

You can update an employee’s compensation, including bonuses, by going to the Bonus table within the Job tab on their employee profile. Click +Add Entry to add a new line to the table. Hover over a current line in the table to edit the current information.

Save your changes and the updated information will show on the employee’s Total Rewards statement under the Bonus section of the statement. Any previous bonus entries will show in the Bonus History section, with the current bonus listed in the Bonus Summary section

Employee bonuses for the Total Rewards statement do not pull from BambooHR Payroll and will need to be added manually.

If you are using a custom version of the bonus table, you'll need to export the information and use the importer to import it into the standard tables through the fields menu.


Potential bonuses

Admins can also add projected bonuses for the year if an employee is projected to receive an additional bonus at a future date.

To add the Projected Bonus field, navigate to an employee profile and click on the Job Tab. Then, click Edit Fields in the top corner. In the pop-up box, click Add Fields, scroll down to the Potential Bonus section, and select either Annual Amount or Annual Percentage.

The added field is now available at the bottom of the Job tab. From here you can manually enter the potential bonus percentage or amount in the textbox. Click Save Changes to save it to the employee profile and it will now show in the Total Rewards statement.

The potential bonus will now show on their Total Rewards Statement in the Compensation Details section and the Bonus section. Any previous bonus entries will show in the Bonus History section.

If you’d like to update the data on multiple employees at once, you can use the power edit tool.

Save your changes and the updated information will show on the employee’s Total Rewards statement under the Commission section of the statement  Any previous commission entries will show in the Commission History section with the current commission listed in the Commission Summary section

Currencies in commissions and bonuses

Although we support multiple currencies for employee bonuses and commissions on the Job tab, all amounts must be in the same currency to successfully show in all components of the Total Rewards statement.

If an employee has a value with multiple currencies in their Bonus and Commission sections, the amount won't be reflected in the Total Annual Compensation section, and a blue notification will show on their Total Rewards statement
