An HR Administrator's Checklist for Total Rewards
What do I need to do to complete the Total Rewards process from start to finish?
Purpose: This guide will provide information that helps administrators through every step of the Total Rewards process, such as prep work, adding employees, importing employee information, and viewing Total Rewards.

Prepare for the Total Rewards setup
Before you can start adding employees and rolling out Total Rewards, there are some housekeeping items you will need to take care of first.
1. Access the Total Rewards setup checklist from settings.
- From Settings (gear icon), navigate to Total Rewards.
- Access, review, and complete the checklist.
These will need to be in place before your employees can start viewing Total Rewards. Once completed, enable employee access, and add employees.
2. Enable employee access
First things first, let's make sure that all employees you want to include in the Total Rewards have access to BambooHR. If they do not have access to BambooHR, you will not be able to add them to Total Rewards, and they will not be able to log in and access their total rewards information.
3. Ensure your employees’ information is updated and accurate
More specifically, you must have information filled out, such as employment status, compensation, bonus, commission, and benefits. This allows accurate information to appear in the employee's Total Rewards statement
4. Add employees to Total Rewards
Once your employee information is all set, you can now add employees to Total Rewards.
- From Settings, navigate to Total Rewards.
- Click +Add Employees to select specific employees.
- Click on an employee name and click ">" to move them over to the Selected Employees area. Do not forget to filter the list of available employees if you need to select employees from a similar department, division, location, etc. You can do this by clicking All Employees below Available Employees.
- Click Next Step to confirm the added employees and their compensation data. You can also click on the preview icon to the right of the employee name to preview their Total Rewards statement. The added employees will receive an email notification.
- Click Save & Finish to save your changes. The added employees will now appear in the Total Rewards employee table.
Congratulations! You have completed the Total Rewards process in BambooHR.
