Introduction to Employee Satisfaction and Employee Wellbeing
Purpose: To help you understand the difference between Employee Wellbeing and Employee Satisfaction in BambooHR and how you can use both to interpret the entire employee experience.
How do Employee Satisfaction and Employee Wellbeing work together?
BambooHR has designed two survey tools that will help you stay connected to your employees. The two surveys work together to paint a full picture of the employee experience at your company. While Employee Satisfaction with eNPS uses the Net Promoter Score concept to measure employee loyalty, Employee Wellbeing is your deep dive into the reasons behind your eNPS score.
Think about it this way, Employee Wellbeing should be a continuous conversation with your employees about how they are doing as an individual working for your company, while Employee Satisfaction is a less frequent check-in to see how your company’s organizational health is doing as a whole. Employee Satisfaction and Employee Wellbeing are separate survey features within BambooHR, but when used together, they can provide an overall, data-driven picture of the entire employee experience at your company. And the best part is that each survey literally takes minutes for your employees to complete.
It is important to note that both surveys are anonymous and administered via email. The employee will click on a button to begin the surveys, which will then take them to a separate page where the user's demographic information is tied to the URL, but the user will remain anonymous. These answers will transfer to insightful and easy-to-use reports, and then it is up to you to decide what to do with the data.
Let’s begin with Employee Satisfaction. This survey asks your employees two questions relating to the health of your organization: how likely would you recommend the organization as a place of work, and what changes would you recommend to make this organization a better place to work? You cannot change these questions, but the employee has the option to submit a written response explaining their score. The system uses the responses to calculate an Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) to provide insight into the overall satisfaction of your employees at your company.
Since this survey is meant to be a check-in, the survey is available for you to send less frequently with the options of quarterly or every six months. You can adjust the frequency under Settings > Employee Satisfaction in BambooHR.
Employee Satisfaction uses keyword analytics to generate reports based on your employees’ responses. The Employee Satisfaction (eNPS) report shows your eNPS score over time, as well as a breakdown of the responses so that you can easily understand ‘the why’ behind your score. Full Admin users and Account Owners have access to this data, and you can filter and share this report with other employees.
So why do you also want to use Employee Wellbeing? Employee Wellbeing is more granular and provides insight at an individual level. You can use this data as a tool to understand what is driving your eNPS score and help your business make decisions that boost employee satisfaction. This survey anonymously collects data on four pillars (Happiness, Personal Motivators, Company Motivators, and Relationships) but is a bit more customizable than the Employee Satisfaction survey. You can edit and choose specific questions to ask in each category, and your employees also have the option to provide free-text responses.
This survey is meant to keep a continuous pulse on how your employees are doing, and therefore, you have the option to send it out more frequently: monthly, every other month, or quarterly. You can adjust the frequency under Settings > Employee Wellbeing in BambooHR.
The Employee Wellbeing report focuses more on the responses from your employees, providing a score among each of the four categories so you can quickly see where there is room for improvement and where your company is excelling at meeting your employee's needs. While upholding employee anonymity, you can also segment the data by demographics so you can quickly spot groups of employees that may need a little more love.
