Features and functionality
Yes! You can assign employees to different time-logging settings by creating different time tracking groups.
When you hire a new employee, you will need to manually add them to time tracking. To enable time tracking for an employee, navigate to their employee profile, click the three-dot menu, hover over the Time Tracking option, and select Enable Time Tracking. If they have already been added to Time Tracking, there may be an issue with your time tracking settings.
No, each time tracking group has only one approver. You can designate the employee's manager or a specific person within the company as the approver.
No, employees have two permission options: 1) View Only or 2) Edit.
While BambooHR Time Tracking can't notify you about off-schedule clock-ins (it's not a scheduling platform), you can easily monitor employee clock-ins by checking the Timesheet Entries report. This report shows who's currently clocked in and their start times for the day.
Time off can only be updated from the Time Off tab. If you notice that a time off amount doesn't look right when approving a timesheet, navigate to the employee's time off tab, edit their PTO request, and save. The change immediately reflects on the timesheet. Keep in mind, if the timesheet is already approved, the edited request will still reflect on the timesheet, and it will remain in the Approved state.
Currently, our functionality does not support timesheet rounding.
Yes, Full Admins always have permission to approve hours. Custom access levels can also approve hours if they are granted permission.
Absolutely! Pay type does not affect the way BambooHR Time Tracking functions. A salaried employee's time tracking experience will look exactly like an hourly employee's, based on the settings you determine. If you are using BambooHR payroll, the system will still pull their hours into the payroll run, but their pay will not change based on those hours.
No. Employees can edit hours until timesheets are approved for a pay period, even if the pay period has ended. After approval, only administrators can edit the timesheet.
No, paid time off does not automatically populate the time entry box. However, any requested time off appears on the right side of an employee's timesheet to remind employees and managers of the hours requested for that day. This is because employees may take partial time off while still working some hours (e.g., working four hours in the morning and taking four hours off in the afternoon). Only time off categories designated as paid will appear on the timesheet.
Yes, if an employee's timesheet is empty when you switch time tracking methods, the change will update immediately for that employee. You do not need to wait for the next pay period.
