Can I skip an assessment?

Purpose: To learn how admins and managers can skip both the self and manager assessments for an employee.

Skipping assessments

We understand that there are circumstances where you may need to skip both the self and manager assessments. Perhaps the employee recently started with a new manager when the assessment period began and that manager does not have enough data to review the employee yet. Or, if a new hire has recently started, the manager can choose to skip both assessments in order to have more time for performance evaluation.

Skipping an assessment will remove the need for both the employee and the manager to complete their assessments for the current assessment review period. This will not affect the following assessment review period.

Please keep in mind that skipping only the self or manager assessment is not available. The admin or manager will be skipping both assessments if they click Skip This Assessment.

During an active assessment period, admins or the employee's manager can skip both assessments as long as the manager has not completed the manager assessment.

To skip both assessments, navigate to the Assessments subtab on the employee's Performance tab. On the Assessment tab, select Skip This Assessment and then confirm that you would like to skip the assessments.

If a manager skips an assessment, they can choose to start an impromptu assessment if needed.

If the employee has already completed their self assessment before the skip, the system will still show their assessment, but the manager assessment will remain blank.

Email notification

When a manager skips the assessments, the employee will receive an automatic email notification letting them know that they no longer need to complete the self assessment.

How does this affect performance reports?
  • Employee Performance Report: As there is no data for the main graph, a skipped assessment will not show here. However, if there is a manager-completed assessment within the date range selected, that assessment data will appear.
  • Company Performance Report: If an employee has completed the self assessment, that assessment data will show here. If they have not completed it, there will be no assessment data for that employee for this assessment period in this report.
  • Assessment Progress Report: The status of this assessment show as "Skipped" and will fall under the Completed category on the graph.
