Enable Goals
Purpose: To show you how to allow employees to set up and edit their goals in BambooHR® Performance Management.

Settings
Since goals are continuous in BambooHR, you will need to set them up separately from review cycles.
Navigate to Settings > Performance > Goals. From the following options, select who can create and share goals.
- None: If you choose to disable goals by selecting None, you can no longer access the Goal Status report, and the Goals tab will not show in any employee profile.
- All Employees
- Only Some: Selecting Only Some will prompt you to choose who you would like to include by using the standard filters (Department, Division, Employee Status, Job Title, and Location).
Employee profile
Once you enable the Goals setting for employees (either All or Only Some), they can add goals to their employee profile. First, they will need to navigate to the Performance tab and then click on the Goals subtab. From there, clicking +New Goal will bring up a new page to fill out goal details and due dates.
Employees will receive email notifications regarding their goal progress.
If an employee is unable to create or edit a goal, please review who you have included in Settings > Performance > Goals.

Is there a limit on how many goals an employee can add to their account?
- No, there is no limit to goals an employee can add to their profile. However, there is a limit of 10 milestones that employees can add to a goal.

Is there a way to track OKRs with goals in BambooHR Performance Management?

Can I add department-wide or company-wide goals?
- Yes, employees can share goals with other team members to help unify their efforts and complete goals faster. Additionally, managers can work with their employees to establish goals that align with organizational objectives.

How can I view a history of completed goals?
- On an employee's Performance tab, click Goals. The Status dropdown menu allows you to select what kind of goals you want to view: In Progress, Completed, or Closed.

Can employees edit or delete their goals?
- Yes, but only if you have granted your employees access under Settings > Performance > Goals.
