How do I determine which package I have?
Account Info

You can find your package information in your account. Click Settings > Account > Account Info.

Please note that we no longer sell our Essentials and Advantage packages. If you are currently subscribed to either Essentials or Advantage and would like to learn more about our new packaging options, navigate Settings > Account > Account Info. On this page, select Manage Subscription > See Upgrade for the specific package you want to learn more about. You will have the option to schedule a demo with our team at BambooHR.

Upgrading from the Essentials package

Upgrading from the Essentials package opens you up to many new features in BambooHR! From Hiring, e-Signatures, Employee Community, Performance management, custom reports, and email alerts, and our integration marketplace, your life will be made much easier. ATS

The BambooHR Applicant Tracking System helps you keep applicant information organized through every phase of the hiring process. Combined with our onboarding feature, you can save time, lighten your administrative load, and create a more inviting and personal onboarding experience for your new employees. Follow the steps below to fast-track your ATS feature setup:

  1. Gather Information for a Job Posting
    As part of the ATS setup, you will be creating a job posting. To do so efficiently, let’s be proactive by collecting the following information:
    • Job description
    • Application question
    • Name of your hiring lead
    • Location for the job opening

You can always make up this information to test it out if you don’t currently have an active job posting.

  1. Create e-signature templates
    E-signatures in BambooHR's applicant tracking system streamline the hiring process by enabling seamless, secure, and efficient document management. Let’s get this set up so you can make the most out of your ATS. 
    First, locate a file that you will need your employees to sign when they are going through the hiring process. Perhaps an I-9 form, offer letter, or company handbook, for example. Then, navigate to Files in your BambooHR account and upload the file. Once you have your file uploaded, walk through this guide to finish setting up e-signatures in BambooHR.
  2. Create Job Openings
    Now, let’s create your first job opening. Refer back to the info you gathered in Step 1, or simply have dummy-data ready to use. Navigate to the Hiring tab and click New Job Opening on the Job Openings tab. BambooHR will walk you through the necessary steps to add your first job opening, but refer to this guide for more information and to help guide you along.
  3. Configure Hiring Access
    Have a recruiter or hiring manager(s) that are involved in your hiring process? Let’s set them up with the appropriate access to BambooHR, whether they are employees of your company or a third-party you have hired to help out. Navigate to Settings > Access Levels to begin. Then, use this guide to set up the appropriate access levels for your company. 
  4. Create Onboarding & Offboarding Tasks
    An efficient onboarding/offboarding experience can leave a lasting impression on your new employees and help the rest of your company stay organized when parting ways with others. 
    Gather a list of tasks your company must complete, including who completes them, when hiring or terminating an employee, and then head to Settings > Onboarding/Offboarding. This guide will help you add your list of tasks and assign the appropriate employees. 
  5. Set your recruiters up for success
    Recruiters are essential to the hiring process. If you don’t have time to train them on the process, send them this guide. We’ve created this resource to walk them through the entire hiring process, from setup to hiring an applicant and reporting.

Automated Disqualifying Questions

Think of the automatic disqualifying questions feature as your first pair of eyes in the hiring process. It quickly sorts out candidates who don’t meet the essential criteria so you can focus on those who do. This means less time spent on initial screenings and more time connecting with the right candidates. Plus, it ensures a fair and consistent process for everyone. With this feature, your hiring journey becomes smoother and more efficient!

Automated Emails

Automatic email notifications in your applicant tracking system are like your personal assistant for hiring. They keep candidates in the loop with timely updates, making the whole process smoother and more engaging. By automating these routine emails, you save time and reduce the chance of errors, allowing you to focus on what really matters—finding the perfect fit for your team. Plus, they help keep everything on track and provide insights into candidate engagement. It’s all about creating a seamless and positive experience for everyone involved!

Job Pipelines

Think of job pipelines as your trusty roadmap for hiring. They give you a clear view of where each candidate is in the process, helping you stay organized and ensuring no one gets left behind. With pipelines, your team can collaborate more effectively, spot any bottlenecks, and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency. Plus, you can customize them to fit the unique needs of each job opening. It’s all about making your hiring journey smoother and more successful!

Custom Tab Builder

Looking to improve your HR data management? Our new custom tab builder in BambooHR empowers you to create and edit custom tabs for employee profiles, offering greater flexibility in managing employee information. Using custom tabs will help you streamline data organization at your company.

Total Rewards

Total Rewards—a comprehensive approach to employee compensation and benefits beyond just paychecks and perks. Total Rewards covers everything that matters to your team, from competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits to work-life balance, recognition, growth opportunities, and a supportive work environment. By implementing a Total Rewards strategy, your company will attract, inspire, and keep top talent by offering a package that truly resonates with your diverse workforce. This approach boosts employee happiness and engagement and aligns seamlessly with your company’s goals and culture, paving the way for employee success.

  • Check current compensation information
    • Conduct an audit of existing compensation, benefits, and recognition programs available to your employees.
    • Confirm employees have current and accurate information in their Job tab (as this is where Total Rewards will pull compensation data from).
  • Add Employees
    • From Settings, navigate to Total Rewards and click Add Employees to select specific employees. Click on an employee name and click ">" to move them to the Selected Employees area. Remember to filter the list of available employees if you need to select employees from a similar department, division, location, etc. You can do this by clicking All Employees below Available Employees.
  • Introduce Total Rewards to your team.
    • You’ve completed the Total Rewards setup…now what? Once you add employees to Total Rewards, an automatic email will be sent to their inbox with details on where to find their Total Rewards statement (employee profile > under Total Rewards in the left menu).

Performance 1:1s

At BambooHR, we know that meaningful conversations are at the heart of employee growth and engagement. That’s why we’re big fans of Performance 1:1s—regular, one-on-one meetings between managers and their team members. These sessions are more than just check-ins; they’re opportunities to connect, provide feedback, and set goals in a supportive environment. Performance 1:1s help build trust, clarify expectations, and empower employees to take charge of their development. By fostering open communication and collaboration, these meetings ensure everyone is aligned and working towards shared success.

  • Turn on 1:1s for direct reports.
    • To set up 1:1s, go to Settings > Performance > 1:1s. Toggle on "Use 1:1s in Performance" and click Save. Then, go to your direct report's employee profile, select 1:1s under the Performance tab, and create your 1:1 schedule by setting the frequency, day, and agenda items.
  • Set up 1:1s for direct reports.
    • Managers can access their direct reports’ 1:1s from their employee profile, > under the Performance tab > 1:1s.
    • Managers should add the frequency, day of the week, and recurring agenda items.
  • How to view 1:1s information
    • Once set up, 1:1s will show under the Performance tab on the employee profile, including dates, agenda items, notes, and upcoming 1:1s dates.

360º Feedback

  • Understanding 360º Feedback
    • First, navigate to Settings > Performance and then select Create a Review Cycle. You’ll need to create a Review Cycle in order to turn on 360 feedback.
  • Setting up 360º Feedback
    • Under the Feedback section, select the date for the feedback requests to go to both managers and employees.
    • Select how often they should repeat to determine the perfect feedback cadence for your team. 

Performance Management

BambooHR Performance helps everyone at your company reach their potential. Give managers an easy way to collect clear feedback and set practical goals for each team member. Follow the steps and resources below to help you set up Performance Management effectively and efficiently.

Goals in BambooHR is part of the Performance Management toolkit that will help your employees be successful in their role through accountability, transparency, and engagement. Navigate to Settings, Performance Management, and then click on the Goals tab to enable the feature for either all or some of your employees. This guide will help walk you through this process in a bit more detail.

  • Introduce Performance Management to your team

eNPS AI Topic Summaries

eNPS AI Topic Summaries is a smart way to gain deeper insights into employee sentiment. Analyzing employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) feedback, our AI-driven summaries identify key themes and trends, giving you a clear picture of what’s working and what needs attention. This innovative tool helps you understand the voice of your employees so you can make informed decisions that boost engagement and satisfaction. 

Once an eNPS period closes, you can use the Employee Satisfaction (eNPS) report to analyze your company's calculated eNPS score. The eNPS summary feature will automatically group comments into three categories: Likes, Dislikes, and Employee Suggestions, and then into topic groups. Each topic is accompanied by a bar chart displaying the count of responses related to that particular topic.

  • Where to find eNPS AI Topic Summaries
    • Navigate to the Overview tab and scroll down to the bottom of the report.
    • Our AI will further sort comments into topics, along with a bar chart showing the number of comments for each topic.
  • How to understand eNPS AI Topic Summaries
    • Click on a bar chart to expand the comment snippets related to that topic.
    • You can then click on these snippets to show a modal with the full comment for more context.

Employee Community

Employee Community is crafted to bring your team together through various engaging features. With tools for organizing team-building activities, creating interest groups, and managing collaborative projects, our platform makes it easy for employees to connect and interact. Whether through virtual meetups, shared project spaces, or discussion forums, employees can share ideas, support one another, and celebrate successes. Employee Community also includes event calendars, seamless document embedding, and resource sharing to enhance collaboration and communication. 

  • Get started with Employee Community
    • By default, the Employee Community is in an “off” state. To turn "on" the Employee Community, navigate to Settings and click Employee Community on the left menu.
    • From here, click Let’s Get Started and this will turn on the Employee Community and a new environment will automatically be created.
  • Preparing Employee Community
    • You will need to complete a couple of steps before your employees have access to the Employee Community. Click  Let’s Get Started to begin the setup process.
      • Sync employees: Toggle on Sync Employees from Settings in BambooHR. This action will add all employees from your company to the Employee Community.
      • Add company branding: When you create a new Employee Community, it will be automatically populated with your company's logo, name, and colors (if one is selected in BambooHR). Use the general settings to edit any of the branding in Employee Community
      • Add content: Add groups, posts, and resources to fill Employee Community before you go live to your employees.
  • Go live
    • Once you have set up the Employee Community and successfully synchronized employees, it’s time to go live. Switch on the Go Live toggle at the bottom of the Employee Community page in Settings.
    • When toggled on, the Employee Community widget will appear on BambooHR Home of employee profiles, and the feature is fully functional.
