How do I sign and complete a document?

Purpose: To teach you how a signer can complete a signature document in BambooHR. Utilizing e-signatures in BambooHR will save time for you and your employees by sending signature requests and receiving signed documents electronically. This guide will help you understand the process that a signer goes through to complete a signature document.

Email notification of a signature request

Email Notification

Once you send a signature request, the signer will receive an email notification. They can click Review & Sign to go to the inbox in BambooHR to complete the document.

A signer can also access a signature request directly from the inbox in BambooHR. They can click Signatures, hover over the appropriate request, and click Review & Sign.

Review Comments and Access Document
  1. Awaiting Signatures: This section will show other signers who have to fill out or sign the document. In the example above, Charlotte Abbott and her manager have items to complete. Her manager has completed her portion, and the document is waiting for Charlotte to complete her part.
  2. Review & Sign: The signer can click Review & Sign to complete the document.
  3. Add a comment: The signer can comment or attach additional documentation (uploads to the recipient's Documents tab within their Workflow Attachments folder).

When a signer reviews a document, they can fill out all designated fields. The yellow arrow on the left side of the document and the progress bar in the top left corner will help them confirm the completion of all fields. They will also be able to click tab to quickly and easily move to the next field to fill out.

If the signer has added their signature to a document in BambooHR before, that same signature (drawn or typed) will automatically show up in the signature field when they click to sign. If they need to update the signature, they can simply click on the signature field again to see the option to Edit Signature or Clear Signature. 

At any point, the signer can click Save & Finish Later to save their signing progress.

Once the signer completes all fields, they can click Confirm Signature at the bottom of the page.

Once a document is complete, all signers and the requester will receive an email notification with a link to view the document in BambooHR.

Also, the completed document will automatically upload to the employee's Documents tab in whichever folder was designated as the default folder when you created the signature template.
