How do I request a signature?
Purpose: To teach you how you can request a signature for a document in BambooHR. Utilizing signature documents in BambooHR will save time for you and your employees by sending documents for signature and receiving signed documents electronically. This guide will help you understand how to initiate this process for a signature document.

Request a signature from a signature template
Go to the Files tab, hover over a signature template, and click on the pen icon.
You can find a list of current signature templates in the Signature Templates folder, or you can recognize a signature template by its purple template icon.
Send a signature request
- Send a signature request to: Type the name* of the employee(s) who need(s) to fill out and sign the document, or request a signature from all employees. You can also start typing in one of your Locations or Access Levels and send by groups that way. Please note that an employee must have access to BambooHR for you to request a signature.
- Each document will also require signatures from: This shows a requirement for the additional signer(s) to fill out the document's fields and sign the document.
- Message to Signers: A pre-filled message will appear for the signers, but you can customize the message when needed.
After you set up the signature request, click Send Request. A green Signature request has been sent to 'Employee Name' banner will appear and the first signer will receive an email notification about your signature request. Please note that it will say the request was sent to the employee regardless if they are the first signer or not, however, it will still follow the signing order set up in the template.
*In the Send box, you can send a document to the specific employees you named (you can type in multiple employees within one request), users in an entire access level, or employees in a specific location. The document will send to any employees matching the set criteria.
If an employee is terminated or unable to sign an E-Signature document for any reason, there is not a way for us to retrieve that incomplete document or change the signers in any way. We recommend canceling the current signature request and issuing a new request. At that point you can either remove the previously requested signer, or you can replace them with a new signer for the document.
BambooHR's E-Signatures feature has been designed as a secure platform that adheres to U.S. electronic signature laws. By not allowing the document to be changed or altered by anyone other than the original signers, this ensures accuracy and avoids fraud on important legal documents.
