Home in the Mobile App
How does the home screen function on the mobile app?
Purpose: To give you a general overview of the home screen in the BambooHR mobile app.
From Home, you can navigate to the following areas:
- Announcements: From here, you can find any new company announcements (see below).
- Inbox: The red dot indicates items that need your attention.
- People: View the company directory and directly contact any employee.
- Files: Search, view, and upload company files based on your access.
- My Info: View your employee information. If you have access to edit your personal information on the My Info tab, you can tap on specific fields to update pertaining information.
- Time Clock: If your company uses BambooHR® Time Tracking, you will see the option to clock in and out or manually add your work hours here. Additionally, you can tap Timesheet to go to your Timesheet tab under My Info.
- Balances: View your current time off balances. Only three time off categories will show here, but you can click Time Off to view additional categories on the Time Off tab. If you tap on one of your time off balances, you will arrive at your Time Off tab under My Info.
- Request Time Off: Submit time off requests while on the go.
- Out Today and Celebrations: Quickly view who from your team is out of the office today and who is celebrating birthdays or anniversaries.
- Calendar: View the company calendar that includes who will be out of the office and any company holidays.
- Company Links: Tap here to see a list of links that your HR admin has shared with you.
- Settings: Manage specific settings for your login.
- Welcome checklist: New employees will see the Welcome checklist to verify their information and get acquainted with their new account.
New employees will see a notification to start the Welcome checklist when they first log in to the mobile app. Click Get Started to begin reviewing the checklist.
The Welcome Checklist screen has five simple steps.
- Profile photo: Add your profile photo to your account.
- Personal information: Confirm and edit your personal employee information.
- Manager and team directory: Check out your team members' contact information.
- Pay information and company holidays: Check your pay information and company holidays.
- Notifications: Allow push notifications for the mobile app.
Profile photo
Click Add a photo to your profile and select either Take photo to take a photo or select Choose existing photo to use a photo from your camera roll. Click Use Photo, and the app will mark this step as completed.
Personal information
Click Make sure your personal information is up-to-date to edit your personal information and add an emergency contact. After you complete all substeps, the app will mark this step as completed.
Manager and team directory
Click Get to know your coworkers and scroll through your team members' contact information. Click Done, and the app will mark this step as completed.
Pay information and company holidays
Click Take a look at your pay schedule and company holidays and scroll through your pay information and company holidays. Click Done, and the app will mark this step as completed.
Notifications
Click Get notified immediately when your time off is approved and then click Turn on Notifications. Click Allow to allow notifications for time off and additional updates. Once confirmed, the app will mark this step as completed.
Completed checklist
After you complete each step, you will see all of the steps marked as completed. Click Wahoo! Checklist Complete! to go back to your home screen.
If there is a new announcement, you will see a notification within the megaphone icon.
All unread announcements will have a colored dot next to them. You can tap on an announcement to read its full message.
From the inbox within the mobile app, you can do the following:
Time off requests
- Approve or deny
- Edit
- Comment
- See who else will be out on the requested days
Timesheets
- Approve all or select
Signature requests
- Sign requested documents
Onboarding/offboarding tasks
- Mark complete
- Attach files
- Comment
- Sign attached documents
- Preview attached documents
- Preview files attached to comments
Job information
- Approve or deny updates to job information (compensation, employment status, promotion)
Custom approvals
- Approve or deny custom approvals
You also have the option to filter inbox notifications by All Items, Time Off Requests, Timesheet Approvals, Signature Requests, Onboarding, and/or Offboarding. Toggling on Show assigned to company will show you all assigned tasks throughout the company.
If you do not have notifications enabled when approving an item from the inbox within the mobile app, you will receive a prompt asking if you would like to receive notifications on this and similar actions in the future.
To update your push notifications preferences within the mobile app, navigate to Settings (gear icon) and toggle on Allow Notifications. You can also enable notifications in Settings > BambooHR > Notifications within your mobile app settings.
