FAQ - Training

FAQs

Expand or collapse content Why doesn't training have recurring reminders/alerts like table alerts?

Training was designed for admins to record completed training, not as an interactive feature like onboarding. Because it was not meant to be interactive, it was built to give a simple notification. You can always add tables to the training area if needed, which have more alert options.

Expand or collapse content If old trainings are deleted, do they still show in the history for employees?

No, they are deleted from the history if you delete the training in settings.

Expand or collapse content Are employees alerted when they are assigned a training?

No, an email alert is not sent in this case. However, employees can quickly view any upcoming trainings on their home page in the My Stuff widget.

Expand or collapse content Is it possible to import completed trainings on a regular basis?

Yes, it is! You must set up the trainings in Settings > Training before they can be imported for employees. Please note that the Category field will not show up on the import because it is automatically determined based on the category that the training falls under in Settings. See this guide for tips on importing into BambooHR: Importing Data into BambooHR.

The other option is to use the Power Edit feature to update the training history each month for employees.

Expand or collapse content Can I give assign a specific date as a due date for a training?

Currently there is no way to specify a specific date for your training. If this is something you want to do, we recommend setting up the training to be required yearly. When training is recorded, it can be recorded on a specific date. From then on, it will be due each year on that date.

Expand or collapse content Who can access the Training tab on an employee's profile?

As an admin, you have the ability to view every employee's Training tab. From there, you can view their upcoming training, record a completed training, view the history under the completed section, and record a training that is not currently in the upcoming table.

Your managers, based on access levels, will also be able to either view and record the training (if they are given edit access in a custom access level) or only view the trainings exactly as the employee sees it (if they are given view only access).

Your Employees will be able to see their past due and upcoming trainings from the table on the Training tab, as long as they have been given access to the Training tab and each specific training title in their access level settings. The completed section allows them to filter the history to see all completed training courses. They also have the ability to record training for themselves if allowed when you set up the training.

Troubleshooting Tips

Expand or collapse content The training widget is not showing up for an employee. There are multiple trainings set up, and they are all due 2 days after their Hire Date. The Hire Date is today. What am I missing?

The most common reason is that the Employment Status table is not filled out with a proper date. Be sure to fill that in so the system recognizes the employee as 'Active'.

Also, employees need access to the training they have been assigned in order for them to see the widget. Check the employee's access to make sure the training(s) in the training tab are showing with 'View Only' access.
